WhAT IS FAT DISSOLVING?

Fat dissolving treatments are non-surgical cosmetic procedures designed to reduce localized fat deposits. These treatments work by breaking down fat cells, which the body then naturally processes and eliminates. The goal is to improve body contours and reduce stubborn areas of fat that don't respond well to diet and exercise alone.

TYPES OF FAT DISSOLVING TREATMENTS

Injection Lipolysis (e.g., Kybella, Aqualyx): This involves injecting a substance directly into the fat tissue. The most common chemical used is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down fat. Once injected, it destroys fat cells, which are then metabolized by the body. This method is commonly used for areas like the chin, neck, and sometimes other body parts like the stomach or thighs.

Mesotherapy: This technique involves injecting a mix of substances, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and enzymes, into the mesoderm (middle layer of the skin) to break down fat and improve the appearance of cellulite.

HOW IT WORKS?

Targeting Fat Cells: The substances used in these treatments specifically target adipose (fat) tissue. They disrupt the fat cells' membranes, leading to their breakdown.

Body’s Natural Processes: After the fat cells are destroyed, they are cleared away by the body’s lymphatic and circulatory systems. The remnants are processed by the liver and excreted from the body, primarily through urine.

Safety and Efficacy

Safety: Generally, these treatments are considered safe when performed by a qualified professional. However, they can cause side effects such as swelling, bruising, pain, and, in rare cases, more serious complications.

Efficacy: The effectiveness of fat dissolving treatments can vary. Factors include the area treated, the specific product or technique used, and the individual’s body type. Multiple sessions are often required to achieve noticeable results.

Considerations

Not for Weight Loss: These treatments are not intended for weight loss but for reducing localised fat deposits. They are most effective for people who are close to their ideal body weight but have specific areas they want to target.

Post-Treatment Care: After a treatment, it's typical to experience some swelling and discomfort. Guidelines may include avoiding strenuous exercise and following specific dietary recommendations to support the elimination process.
