📣 Real Progress Toward Regulation in Aesthetics

We’re encouraged to see the UK Government finally taking meaningful steps toward regulating the medical aesthetics industry. After years of growing concern around unqualified providers and unsafe treatments, there is now clear movement in the right direction.

The newly announced proposals aim to improve safety, protect the public, and raise standards – all of which we strongly welcome.

🔑 Key measures under discussion include:

• Ensuring that only medically qualified professionals carry out high-risk procedures such as non-surgical Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs)

• Introducing mandatory licensing for clinics offering treatments like Botulinum Toxin and dermal fillers, with firm standards in place for:

• Practitioner training, including robust requirements around clinical competence, hygiene, and cross-contamination prevention – particularly important given that many courses are currently delivered by individuals without recognised medical qualifications

• Protecting under-18s from the influence of cosmetic trends driven by social media

• Tackling the issue of rogue operators whose unsafe practices put people at risk and burden the NHS

• Bringing CQC oversight to the most invasive or complex treatments

As a medically-led aesthetics clinic, Medi-Spa 28 has always operated with patient safety, ethical practice, and clinical excellence at our core. We believe everyone deserves to access aesthetic treatments in a safe, professional environment – and these proposed changes are a long-overdue step toward making that the standard across the UK.

Our Clinic Director, Barbara, said:

“Thank you for taking the issue of an unregulated aesthetics industry so seriously. With over 20,000 treatments carried out locally in Staffordshire each year – many in unsuitable settings and without proper consultation – this is a real and growing concern. We appreciate your proactive approach in tackling it.”

This isn’t about restricting choice – it’s about ensuring that anyone seeking treatment can do so with confidence and trust in the person delivering it.

💛 We look forward to seeing how these recommendations progress and will continue to champion high standards in our sector.

Our incredible Clinic Director, Barbara, was invited onto BBC Radio Stoke to share her expert insights on one of the most important conversations in our industry - the urgent need for stronger regulations in medical aesthetics.

She spoke passionately about the dangers of unsafe and unregulated procedures, why change is so overdue, and how the industry must raise its standards to better protect patients.

At Medi-Spa 28, we’ve always been proud advocates for safety, professionalism, and regulation, so this was a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on the issues that matter most to us.

Join us on an iPixel journey ⚡️

Barbara, our Clinic Director, went on her iPixel journey with our Harmony XL Laser machine.

The Alma Harmony XL Pro iPixel is a fractional ablative laser that creates tiny micro-channels in the skin. This process stimulates natural cell renewal, helping to smooth texture, even out pigmentation, and reveal a brighter, more radiant complexion.

If you’ve ever been curious about what happens during a laser appointment, watch along to see the process in action!

Finally, not forgetting the lovely 5 star reviews from our wonderful patients, we truly appreciate everyone who takes the time to share their experiences with us.

A huge thank you to everyone who continues to support us in every single way - we think the world of you.
